Tracy Matthews, a 44-year-old grandmother from Lorain, Ohio, carried 605 pounds for many years. Today she stands transformed – lighter, stronger, and fully present for the people she loves most.
From a young age, food became Tracy’s safest escape. By age eleven she already weighed 170 pounds, and by the time she graduated high school, the scale had climbed to 270 pounds. Each pregnancy added nearly 100 pounds, pushing her weight higher until she reached 605 pounds.

Growing up wasn’t easy. Frequent arguments between her parents filled the house with tension, and food became her comfort – a place where she felt calm, even for a moment.
As the years passed, severe lymphedema set in. Pain, swelling, and heavy layers of cellulite made every movement difficult. Still, one wish kept her going: to walk again without fear and to be fully present in her grandchildren’s lives.

Her turning point came when she joined My 600-lb Life. Under medical supervision, Tracy underwent major surgeries that removed large amounts of excess skin and tissue from her legs. Those procedures alone helped her lose 167 pounds, and she continued shedding weight with steady determination.
Little by little, her strength returned. The swelling eased, the pain faded, and she began moving through her days with freedom she hadn’t felt in years.

Today, Tracy wakes up grateful for the small things — playing with her grandchildren, sharing meals with her husband, and enjoying the simple joy of mobility. She reclaimed her health, her confidence, and her life one day at a time.
